Press Release Summary: Holladay, Utah, September 22, 2008 — Beehive Science & Technology Academy (BSTA) began the new school year at 1011 East Murray-Holladay Road to accommodate its growing student population.
Press Release Body: BSTA has happily left behind its cramped quarters of the past and started a fresh chapter in charter school education. The old facilities lacked a gym, adequate locker rooms and space for book lockers. The new location has a private and secure area, with many parking spaces. It has a gym, private yard, large lunchroom, lockers and even a kitchen.
"Parents love our program. We focus on skills to compete in a global marketplace and provide unique extracurricular programs that impress College Admissions Boards because I want to see every one of my students go on to college," declared Dean of Academics, Omer Odabasoglu.
Last year, 130 students attended BSTA. Currently 210 pupils are enrolled, but more will be accepted throughout the year. Beehive Science & Technology Academy serves seventh through eleventh grade students. Twelfth grade will be added in 2009. The current school bus runs from the west end of Salt Lake Valley.
Principal Frank Erdogan said, "BSTA is a shining example of what can be accomplished within the public educational system. We welcome all visitors and would be happy to share our best practices with the press, parents and neighboring schools."
Beehive Science & Technology Academy is a tuition-free public charter school that opened on August 29, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Academy has a college preparatory program that focuses on math, science and technology with a solid foundation in humanities and social science.
